OEM/ODM tips, material guides, and market insights for pet furniture buyers and brand owners.

What Is MOQ and Why Does It Matter?

MOQ — Minimum Order Quantity — is the smallest number of units a factory will produce in a single order. For pet furniture brands, this is one of the most consequential numbers in your supply chain. Too high, and you’re locked into inventory risk before you’ve proven demand.

Typical MOQ Ranges for Solid Wood Pet Furniture

Product Type Typical MOQ Notes
Dog Beds & Crates 50–100 units Lower for simpler designs
Cat Trees & Towers 50–100 units Multi-component adds complexity
Cat Houses 50 units Relatively simple construction
Litter Box Furniture 50–100 units Cabinet-style adds MOQ
Pet Stairs & Ramps 100 units High SKU variety available

Strategies to Reduce MOQ Risk for New Brands

1. Start with a Core SKU

Rather than launching 10 SKUs at once, identify your single strongest product concept and commit your MOQ to that. Use the first run to validate the market before expanding.

2. Negotiate Mixed MOQ

Some factories allow you to combine multiple SKUs (e.g., 3 colourways of the same dog bed) to reach the overall MOQ. This spreads inventory risk while meeting the factory’s production threshold.

3. Use LCL Sea Freight

If you’re not filling a full container, LCL (Less than Container Load) shipping allows smaller brands to ship without paying for unused container space.

Scaling MOQ as Your Brand Grows

A typical tiered pricing structure looks like: 50 units at base price, 200 units at 8–12% discount, 500+ units at 15–20% discount plus priority production slots.
